Welcome! See what some others are up to.

Welcome everyone to MidValley Voice!
Many of you are discovering the kinds of things you can do here, and I'd like to highlight some of the best examples I've seen so far. Last week, 2Kiddoo sent me an e-mail about how her husband lept into action while at work and may have saved someone's life in the process. This is the kind of thing that a newspaper struggles with: an interesting, important story but not much time or space to write it up. Instead, I asked her if she'd like to blog about it. She did, and now the story is out there for everyone to read. Dennis Emerson (in the Around the MidValley Group comments) paid tribute to the passing of Wah Chang founder Stephen Yih.
““Many don't realize how important this man was to Albany. And not just
Albany but to the world. His efforts made it possible for the
commercial production of zirconium which is used as fuel rods in
nuclear reactors - a vital component. Taking the technology developed
at the U.S. Bureau of Mines Research Center he was the first to make
commercial quantities. He also was instrumental in the development of
niobium alloys which are used in rocket engines and most importantly -
magnetic resonance imaging machines.””
And many of you are blogging and starting groups of your own. Send me a note about group activities and I'll highlight them here. I'll also be watching the latest posts for stuff to make notice of. On the technical front, look for a new points system we're working on to recognize the most active of you. More on that to come. Again, welcome and we're glad you're here. -Matt |
