Chickens are apparently growing faster than originally thought...

I'm kind of fascinated with the idea of raising chickens, maybe because it's something my wife thinks we should do. She also thinks we need a second dog, but I'm not totally convinced of that, either. So I've been reading along with the Backyard Poultry group, where k_rivera is raising some chicks this spring. Apparently, she needs to get busy building a coop for them. Anyone have ideas? Building your own?

We've gotten started, luckily! It's not so much that I think they're really ready to go outside, but they outgrew their temporary housing rather quickly.

They are hilarious and a lot of fun, though, and I definitely can't wait for the fresh eggs.

I love the idea of fresh eggs. I don't love the idea of a second dog. At least in my case three cats and one dog is enough!
